Pale yellow. Pear skin, nectarine and fresh fig on the deeply perfumed nose, complicated by a hint of pungent flowers. Pliant orchard fruit and honeysuckle flavors are brightened by a suggestion of dusty minerals, and a bitter lemon zest nuance adds clarity and cut. Finishes with good energy and length, the pear and floral flavors repeating. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Planted in 1991, the 50-acre Hawks View Vineyard offers the ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The eastern-facing slope and Laurelwood soils, combined with dry farming and hand harvesting, allow for wines of great character and distinction.
The 2015 vintage was the best of all worlds, marked by rain-free days and glorious sunshine. With an abundance of fruit hanging, we were happy to delay picking, allowing flavors to continue to generate beautiful complexities. Nonetheless, we still began harvest on September 9th, which is the earliest pick in our Estate vineyard's history.
