2009 "Hawks View Vineyard"
Muirfield Block Pinot Noir
$35 - This wine is Sold Out
In 2009, the Muirfield Block of the Hawks View Vineyard stood out amongst all the blocks that we harvested. The Muirfield block is on the southern edge of the vineyard and comprises 4.75 acres of Pinot Noir clones. The block was harvested on October 6th under blue skies in the early morning. The physiological maturity was impressive so we decided to include about 33% whole cluster in the ferment. After a 12 day cold soak the wine was warmed and inoculated with one of our favorite yeast strains. The wine proceeded to ferment for over two weeks. Once the wine was dry, we drained and pressed the tanks contents directly to barrel. The wine was aged for 12 months in 44% new French oak, 33% once filled French oak, and 23% neutral French oak barrels. The 2009 Muirfield Block Pinot Noir was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The 2009 Muirfield Block Pinot Noir opens with ripe plum, clove, and black tea. The palate is rich with blackberry, and plum followed by a long, smooth finish.
