The 2009 Hawks View Vineyard Pinot Noir is a selection of blocks from the vineyard. The foundation of this year’s blend comes from the Pommard and Dijon clone 777 and 667 blocks. In past years the foundation of the blend brought elegance and aromatic complexity, this year it is more about intensity and structure. The inclusion of stems in our ferments gives this wine a spicy quality and heightened aromatic complexity. The wine was aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak, 37% once filled French oak, and 23% neutral French oak barrels. The 2009 Pinot Noir was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The 2009 Hawks View Vineyard Pinot Noir offers plum, blueberry, and violet notes which extend to the palate of crushed blackberries, chocolate, and sweet tannins.
