The 2009 Hawks View Cellars La Baleine is a blend of 68% Hawks View Vineyard Pinot Noir, 18% Page Nord Vineyard Syrah, and 14% The Benches Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The Pinot Noir gives the wine aromatic complexity and helps contain the Syrah’s dark and explosive personality. The Cabernet Sauvignons addition takes it from being elegant and adds size and intensity. The wine was aged in 41% new oak, and 59% once filled barrels that add spice and complexity to this wine.
The 2009 Hawks View Cellars La Baleine offers complex aromas of juicy black currants, mocha, and barbecue smoke. The opulent wine showcases raspberries, baking spice, and cola in the long silky finish.
