2009 California Syrah

The 2009 California Syrah comes entirely from the Page Nord Vineyard in Napa Valley. The Page Nord Vineyard is located on the North bank of the Dry Creek River in the Oak Knoll District within Napa Valley. The vineyard’s gravelly silt loam soils and cooling marine influence allows Syrah to thrive in this climate. In the winery we fermented the fruit in a small stainless steel tank with 50% of the stems removed. This wine was punched down twice daily until dry and then barreled in a combination of French oak burgundy barrel and a Hungarian oak puncheon (equivalent of two burgundy barrels). The resulting wine is lush and intense, with soft fruit and a velvety texture in the mouth.

2009 California Syrah has huge notes of blackberry and blueberry swirled together with a touch of cardamom and cinnamon. The palate is lush and velvety, yet possesses supple tannins that hang long on the incredible finish.
