In 2003, the Kemp family embarked on a dream to farm the land and grow the grapes that would eventually produce some of the finest wine in the Pacific Northwest. Along with crafting exceptional Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, the Kemps created a brand and a home that members and guests have grown to love.
A lifelong Oregonian, the late Jack Kemp was driven by a vision that combined a world-class winemaking facility with a warm, inviting place to bring friends and family together. Hawks View Cellars became one of the great loves of Jack's life. After Jack's passing, his wife Willie and son A.J. carried on his vision. Always a believer in excellence above all else, Jack relished every opportunity to share the property's beauty and the romance of winemaking. It is our great pleasure to share his legacy with you.
THE FAMILY TRADITION CONTINUES
In the Summer of 2017 Ponte Family Estate became the new owner of Hawks View! As operators of a fellow family-owned winery in Temecula, located an hour north of sunny San Diego, the Ponte family will maintain Hawks View’s focus on crafting exceptional wine, and providing an authentic guest experience.
The Ponte family has farmed their 300-acre vineyard estate since 1984, opened their Tasting Room in 2003 and became innkeepers in 2012 when their boutique-style hotel, Ponte Vineyard Inn, opened in Temecula Wine Country. Ponte produces 25,000 cases of premium wine made primarily from French and Italian varietals, as well as blends. Emphasizing quality over quantity, Ponte wines are sold directly to guests through the Tasting Room, Wine Club and Online Store.
Proudly following in the Kemp family’s footsteps, the Pontes look forward to continuing the Hawks View Winery traditions of not only sustainably farming the land and making world-class Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, but also supporting the local community and the efforts of Oregon’s wine pioneers.
The exceptional Hawks View staff will continue to offer the stellar service they are known for, but many improvements are planned. During the next two years, expect to see expanded business hours, new Wine Club Member events and even behind-the-scenes vineyard and winery tours. An improved parking lot and a larger, more comfortable Tasting Room and rooftop deck are in the works for 2018!
